Ramsie Is I believe 100% Nubian; if not, she sure looks it.
I bought her in the Fall on 2022, along with three other goats I was told were Nubians as well, even though they didnât look like Nubians. I wasnât planning to keep them, but I did.
Ramsie is the Alpha Female, she was the leader of the pack. In some ways, she still is. She is my most aggressive goat, and thatâs how she got her name. She wonât ram you for no reason, but donât tell her youâre the boss⊠because she thinks otherwise. She is difficult to âhandleâ, but I manage. I keep trying to get her to let me huge her, but she wants no part of that.
Sheâs a good goat otherwise, a good leader. Soon, Iâll find out how good of a mother she is too.
Ramsay had two baby miniNubians this morning 11-25-24
I almost got rid of her, but now I am glad I didnât. She is a good mom and a good goat overall… she just probably can’t have any more kids.
Ramsay got mastitis twice and lost both litters, so I was going to separate her from the herd. However; I recently found out that she may have had a selenium deficiency, so I now have selenium salt licks for the goats and sheep. Oh yeah, I have sheep now too; as of January 2025. I’m going to let her get pregnant one more time, and watch her closer. If she still gets mastitis: we will pull the kids and bottle feed them… that then will be her last litter. I have a wether I was going to put with her, that will be her companion animal; DJ and maybe even Paul.
