Unfortunately; Maria, and maybe her sister came to the land infected with Caseous Lymphadenitis. Little did I know; they guy i bought them from, has had several cases of CL and he doesn’t seem to be care about it. However, I am. Turns out; CL is a highly contagious, incurable disease. He’ll no i don’t want that on my land; but its too late, now I have it.

Yup, I screwed up. I had a closed herd; but i bought these two new Kiko/Spanish does, and now possibly my whole herd is infected. So im shut down now for 6mo. Can’t do anything now till 2027.

Im 90% sure one of them has CL, and pretty sure her sister has it too. I have them both Quarantined, separately; to be sure. Ive never had this problem before, and I hope i don’t ever get it again; once I get rid of it of course.

I should have done more homework on the guys herd that I bought from. Apparently he has CL all the time, and doesn’t worry about it; because he just raises them for meat. I raise mine for meat too, but i dont want an incurable disease running rampant on my land. If the goats i was planning to butcher got it, id be less concerned; but these were going to be my nannies. I don’t want them having any medical problems 😕 so im probably going to have to cull my whole herd now, we’ll see. 😢 it takes up to 6mo to show signs, maybe even longer. So ill have to start doing blood work on the ones who don’t show signs in the next few months, just to be sure.

Laura likes to name animals after people, especially famous ones. She wanted to name these two sisters after Laverne and Shirley, or Lucy and Thelma from I Love Lucy. The goats are red with stops, and black with spots. I was looking for a famous female dual; one with red hair, and one with black hair. I found twin sisters, born to a black and white couple. One daughter came out white, with red hair. The other, black. I found it to be unique, and cool 😎 so I named these twin sisters after those twin sisters.
